And in recent years, we have seen a rise in the number of people trying to become social media influencers. But many questions arise that is being a social media influencer a real career or a hobby?

Nearly anybody can be a social media influencer. You do not need a certain degree to be one neither you have to be famous or have a specific number of following. And this is because people think it is not a career and just a gig to strive for as it is too easy for anyone to become a social media influencer. The other factors that make people think of it as a hobby are that it is not a 9 to 5 job and proper timings, no stress about work, no work commitment, and no office to work.

People think that social media influencing is just about wearing nice clothes with makeup and posting pretty pictures in them. Well, it is way beyond that. They are paid by brands to post those pretty pictures using their products and influence people so that they buy them. So, the social media influencers earn by social media marketing or affiliate marketing and earn a good amount of money. And we know that anything that you do regularly and gets paid for is a job, so social media influencing is a real job. So this can be a career for anyone who is looking for a job in the marketing field. Many influencers who were doing this as a part-time job or hobby are now doing social media influencing as their full-time job and some of them have also established their businesses after successfully setting up their influence. So isn’t this turning a passion into a career?
What is the career expectancy of social media influencers?
Well, the career expectancy is not the same and does not remain the same for every individual in any career. It depends on many factors. Some influencers are working for years in the field while some quit in between due to pressure, mental health, technical issues, inconsistency, and loss of audience, or there may be many other reasons. The platforms and the mode of work may not remain the same in the next ten years but may evolve and get better. So it is better to avail opportunities and get the maximum benefit from it at the present moment, and there should also be a backup plan in case of uncertainties.
